Sarah Jackson Community Wish Offers Fully Funded Mental Health First Aid Training to Otley Businesses
In support of Mental Health Awareness Week (12th–18th May 2025), the Sarah Jackson Community Wish is proud to offer fully funded Adult Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training to local businesses in Otley.
This initiative is designed to equip workplaces with the tools, understanding, and confidence to support the mental wellbeing of staff, customers, and the wider community. Delivered by a qualified professional, the two-day course will empower attendees to recognise the signs of mental ill health, offer initial help, and guide individuals towards appropriate support services.
The training is made possible thanks to the support of Otley Men’s Group and Andrew Jackson, a National Trainer for Mental Health First Aid England, whose involvement reflects our shared commitment to wellbeing, connection, and tackling the stigma around mental health.
“We know how important it is to feel seen, heard and supported – especially in the workplace,” said a spokesperson from the Sarah Jackson Community Wish. “This is about making sure people know they’re not alone, and that there’s someone there to say: it’s okay not to be okay.”
We’re aiming to deliver the training in summer 2025 and are now inviting Otley businesses to register their interest. Whether you’re a small shop or a larger local employer, participating is a meaningful way to show your commitment to staff wellbeing and help build a stronger, more supportive community.
This offer wouldn’t be possible without the incredible support from our town and its residents. In particular, we want to thank everyone who ran the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon on Sunday to raise funds for the Wish – your generosity continues to drive our work forward. This initiative is one of the many ways we’re giving back.
