frequently asked questions

Sarah Jackson’s Community Wish has been set up by her family to carry on bringing light such as her’s to the local Otley community, by way of donations made from those who wish to raise money for worthy causes and donate it in Sarah’s name.

How did The Sarah Jackson Community Fund begin?

Since Sarah’s family lost her last year, they have been asked a number of times by friends and family how to donate money they are raising in Sarah’s memory.

And so the Sarah Jackson Community Wish came to be.

SJCW is still in its infancy and as such has great plans for its own events to build up funding.

But we need your help!

Are you thinking of doing something amazing like an epic bike ride, a marathon swim or trek a mountain range? Having a wear an ugly jumper to work day, making plans to hold a Teddy Bear’s Picnic and go on a Bear Hunt, or plan to shave your head?

The money YOU raise through sponsorship could be donated the SJCW fund.

Through our blog you can follow the journey of your fundraising - and we would love to follow yours- and see where your generosity of spirit has helped others around you.

How does SJCW help the Otley Community?

Sarah Jackson Community Wish fundraising, in addition to your donations, will give help to the community and individuals in the Otley area.

For example, it may be in the form of financial support for family that is having a difficult time, or as a gift in recognition of a person who has gone above and beyond in the community.

You can also nominate who you consider to be a deserving recipient of the SJCW and every nomination will be considered by our Board of Trustees.

How is it decided where the funds go?

Beneficiaries must live in the local community.

Funding must be applied for by a third party and not the prospective beneficiary themselves.

The beneficiary can be an individual or a team or group - but must be a non- profitable organisation.

The decision of who will receive funding from the Sarah Jackson Community Wish will be made by the Board of Trustees and all decisions are final.

All funding will be one off and non- recurring. However, groups can apply to set up clubs or activities that are to the benefit of the community.

Funding will be paid directly into a specified and certified bank account and evidence must be provided showing the funding was used for its specified purpose.

When appropriate and with the agreement of the beneficiary, a follow up to the funding given may be seen on the Sarah Jackson Community Wish Blog.

How do I collect sponsors?

Fundraisers will be asked to set up their own Just Giving page. Select the link here 'No, I'm raising money for my own causes' and continue through to set up your Just Giving Page. Once the event has been completed the funds will then be transferred directly to the Sarah Jackson Community Wish account.

Alternatively you can download a sponsorship form and collect sponsors in person. There is a downloadable Sponsorship Form in the Fundraising Resources section below.

What happens once the funds have been transferred over?
